We just received a copy of The Jews of Key West: Smugglers, Cigar Makers, and Revolutionaries (1823-1969). It explains a mystery we have been tracking, how Rich’s great grandfather, Abraham Horn, a Romania Jew, ended up in Key West. He died in 1896, when Rich’s grandmother was 6 months old. We found his tombstone when we visited about 2009, it’s the largest one in the old Jewish cemetery. This book actually mentions Abraham (pg 52+53).
More as we read the book and we add more of our research.
Here are the photo’s of his grave in Key West: A.H Grave
